About the host:
My name is Heidi Zilmer. I am a renowned Danish restoration painter and wallpaper designer.
Since 2008 I have been working with classical gilding techniques in modern, minimalistic and contemporary ways.
I work in a crossfield between tradition and cultural heritage, but I'm
never afraid to test materials and techniques in new experimenting ways.
I've been a participant at Salon since 2009.
I joined Salon Denmark in 2007 as crew and just had to join!
It's my honour to welcome you to Salon 2025 Horsens Denmark.

About the venue FÆNGSLET
Since 2006 when the last inmate left the former Horsens State Penitentiary, intense work and effort have been invested and in 2012 the project became a reality: FÆNGSLET (The Prison).
Today the historic buildings of the former state penitentiary houses FÆNGSLET, the cultural institution that encompasses The Prison Museum, the city’s tourist information center VISITHORSENS, the prison hostel SleepIn FÆNGSLET, business events, festivals, concerts, office space rental and much more.
In the heart of FÆNGSLET stands The Prison Museum where the Museum of Horsens has created a unique experience of the life behind walls through sound, film, photos and belongings – ideally situated within the authentic surroundings of the old penitentiary.
The former prison yard where inmates used to enjoy fresh air and exercise is today a concert arena. Outdoor concerts and event of any taste can be enjoyed here throughout the summer semester.
SleepIn FÆNGSLET is an unforgettable overnight stay with plenty of food for thought. SleepIn is a hostel situated in the sick ward of the former penitentiary.
The prison premises that are so characteristic to FÆNGSLET are known to many – from the movie productions of “Hvidstengruppen” and “R”, the MTB race Prison Break, and the art workshops and galleries within the prison walls to annual events like the European Medieval Festival, the Crime Fiction Festival and much more.
About Haandvaerkskollegiet Horsens:
The Foundation for Craft Residence Halls breaks new ground by building residence halls for craftspeople in training. The goal is to raise recognition of crafts and help to build strong communities among the future craftspeople.
The residence halls will be the base of the residents’ daily life, a place where they can pursue their craft interests, share meals in the communal kitchen and enjoy being part of a community of peers. As unique factors, each craft residence hall has a resident director and well-equipped workshops with professional mentors attached. In Horsens, five skilled mentors are ready to serve as role models and support activities and work in the workshops. The inspiration for the craft residence halls came from folk high schools, traditional student resident halls and apprentice boarding houses.
About Jørgensens Hotel:
Lichtenberg Palace, which is today Jørgensens Hotel, was built by Horsen’s great businessman Gerhdt de Lichtenberg. In 1697, Gehrdt was born as Hansen into a wealthy merchant family and after completing his education, he took over the merchant business at Søndergade 17 from his father and grandfather. He assumed his mother’s name, Lichtenberg, and became Gerhdt de Lichtenberg. Lichtenberg had great success as a merchant, landowner, producer and money lender, and in 1744 he converted the merchant’s farm in Horsens to the baroque mansion that it is today.
At Jørgensens Hotel you can experience the original baroque painting skillfully restored by Salon participant Caterina Manisco
and furthermore gaze upon the spectacular new paintings, created specifically to the historical building, by Salon participant Stefano Lucá.
